Galactic History

Denguil emissaries rescue Earthlings from the Aquarius flood

By examining the history of the universe with Earth as the focal point, it becomes easier to understand the universal chronicles.

Earth’s History

The Ancient Past
1~3 million years ago, intelligent life emerged on the Earth. They must have looked up in the sky in wonder at the stars. This was before the dawn of mankind.

Birth of Civilization
When the water planet Aquarius flooded the Earth, only a small number of humans survived. A few were taken away into space by the Denguil, but these humans never returned.

The Rise of the Space Age
Humans first ventured into space at this time and arrived on the moon. This eventually led to colonization of the Solar System.

Gamilas Invasion
At the end of the 22nd Century, a terrible disaster struck the Earth. From 2196, the Gamilas forces began bombing the surface of the planet.

2199 AD
With the aid of Iscandar, the Space Battleship Yamato left the Milky Way and destroyed several Gamilas territorial positions in a quest to obtain the CosmoCleaner and reverse the effects of Gamilas Radiation Bombs.

2200 AD
Yamato reached the Sanzar System, first fighting a decisive battle on Gamilas and then proceeding to Iscandar. From the day of Yamato‘s return to Earth, the humans began to rebuild their world.

The launch of Space Battleship Yamato

2201 AD
Yamato received a mysterious message about the approach of the White Comet. Defying orders, the crew travelled to Planet Telezart for more information. Upon their return to the solar system, the Earth Defense Forces were destroyed, and Earth was about to surrender. Yamato, with the aid of Teresa, ended the invasion of Gatlantis and made peace with Dessler of Gamilas.

2202 AD
Gamilas and Iscandar both came under attack from the Dark Nebula Empire. Yamato rallied to their aid, and although the enemy was stopped, both planets were lost. Later in the year, Earth came under the control of the Dark Nebula Empire. Yamato breached the offensive zone borderline to find and destroy the mother world of this enemy.

2203 AD
A planet-destroying missile hit the Sun and caused unusual solar activity. Yamato set off to find another world to move to but became entangled in various battles against the Galman and Bolars. After coming to the aid of Planet Shalbart, a means of stopping the unusual solar activity was found.

Investigating a planetary system near the galactic core, Yamato came under attack from the Denguil forces. Subsequently, the Earth Defense Forces were defeated by the same enemy. Under the command of Captain Okita, Yamato launched a counterattack. With Dessler’s aid, Yamato stopped the approach of Planet Aquarius by self-destructing in a massive explosion, then sank under the waves.

Yamato vs. the forces of Gamilas

Gamilas History

Birth of Civilization (Earth time)
The Gamilas race, a part of the Galman civilization, traversed the great span of space to arrive at the Large Magellanic Cloud.

The Rise of the Space Age (Earth time)
The Gamilas people spread from the Large Magellanic Cloud to the Small Magellanic Cloud. They created bases and mining facilities. However, due to the decline of the Sanzar System, the Gamilas mother world began to rapidly deteriorate. Later, Lord Dessler would decide to emigrate his people to the Earth’s Solar System, and begin a campaign to destroy the human race.

2199 AD
Dessler strengthened the Gamilas defense line to stop Yamato‘s approach. He sent General Domeru, the “Space Wolf,” against the Yamato.

2200 AD
After Yamato destroyed the Gamilas mother world, Dessler launched a final attack and failed, then he drifted in space until he was rescued by the White Comet Empire.

2201 AD
After being rescued, Dessler gathered his remaining forces and started his campaign of retaliation against Yamato. Just as he was about to succeed, however, he was impressed by Kodai and Yuki’s bravery, so he left them in peace and departed for deep space.

The final showdown with Dessler

2202 AD
Planet Gamilas was destroyed by the Dark Nebula Empire, and Iscandar began to drift away. Dessler and the crew of Yamato fought and defeated the Dark Nebula Empire, but were unable to save Iscandar from destruction.

After the great tragedy in the Sanzar System, Dessler and the remaining Gamilas people wandered aimlessly through the Magellanic Clouds, then entered the Milky Way. Somewhere near the Galactic Core, he encountered the Galmans, who were being oppressed by the Bolar Union. After that, he united the Galmans with the Gamilas and fought the Bolar Union to a standstill.

2203 AD
After Dessler helped Yamato to rescue the Planet Shalbart, he learned the Bolar Union was after Yamato, and he headed for Earth’s Solar System. After the battle, he observed the burial of the Bolar Union High Minister.

Yamato vs. the Denguil Empire

Following a cross-dimensional rip that destroyed over half the Galman-Gamilas population, Dessler once more came to the aid of Yamato against Lugal, the leader of the Denguil Empire. After the battle, he watched sadly as Yamato slipped beneath the waves of Aquarius’ waters. There is no further information on what happened to Dessler, or the Galman-Gamilas Empire, after this time.

Galman History

Birth of Civilization (Earth time)
The Galman were a race of people that came from a star system in the Milky Way, advancing their civilization until they were able to fly to the stars. What their history was like before they traveled the interstellar distances is now a mystery, and their mother world is also unknown as well.

The Rise of the Space Age (Earth time)
When the power of the Galman waned, the Bolar Union came forth from the core of the Milky Way and conquered the Galmans, making the latter into one of its colonies.

2202 AD
With aid from Dessler, the Galman, long under the harsh yoke of the Bolar, finally won their independence.

2203 AD
The Western front of the war grew more intense. In the Eastern Division, the Bolar forces of Planet Berth were severely beaten and forced to retreat into the Orion arm of the galaxy, pursued by Galman General Dagon. The effects of their battle reached the Earth, resulting in Yamato‘s involvement in the Bolar Wars.

Iscandar History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
The Iscandar civilization was born on Planet Iscandar, located in the Sanzar System of the Large Magellanic Cloud. Compared to the Earth, the Iscandarians were far advanced, and their culture was a peaceful, pacifist society.

Birth of Civilization (Earth time)
The Iscandarians had developed space technology, but they didn’t develop a power base. They had created friendly relations with their sister planet, Gamilas, as well as with the Galman immigrants that arrived later.

The Rise of the Space Age (Earth time)
As the Sanzar System declined, the Iscandarians headed towards extinction. By the Terran year of 2190, most of their population no longer existed.

Queen Starsha of Iscandar

2199 AD
Disturbed by Gamilas’ brutal campaign against the Earth, Queen Starsha of Iscandar offered the Earth the CosmoCleaner D to counteract the effects of the Gamilas Invasion. Shortly thereafter, she rescued Mamoru Kodai from the hands of the Gamilas fleet when he was captured. They fell in love with each other, and he remained with her even when offered a trip home on Yamato.

2202 AD
Following the destruction of Gamilas at the hands of the Dark Nebula Empire, Starsha released the energy of Iscandarium to destroy their attack force.

In a subsequent battle against the Dark Nebula Empire, Mamoru Kodai and Sasha, daughter of Starsha, both died. This brought the final end to the bloodline of the Iscandarians.

White Comet Empire History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
The Gatlanteans of the Andromeda Galaxy were already a space-faring people when the Terrans were still living in caves. They were still tied to their home planet, but they had started to increase their power base.

Beginning of Civilization (Earth time)
For reasons unknown, the Gatlanteans used a large planetoid as their spaceship and began traveling the universe. When Emperor Zordar assumed command, he was the latest in a multi-generational dynasty of the Gatlantean Empire.

2200 AD
Zordar ordered his advance forces to secure the Planet Telezart at the edge of the Milky Way after learning of Teresa’s existence.

A meeting of Emperors

2201 AD
Now intent on subjugating Earth, Zordar brought Dessler into his ranks, offering him a new warship and the means to bring together his former Gamilas Army. General Zabaibal fought against Yamato at Telezart, but lost his life in the surface battle.

Yamato and Teresa ultimately united to defend Earth. Using her mental powers, Teresa destroyed the core of the White Comet, sacrificing her own life in the process. This ended centuries of Gatlantean tyranny.

Telezart History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
Planet Telezart prospered as the Space Port of choice for traders between the Galactic Core and the surrounding regions. Various interstellar races always tended to gather at Telezart.

Planet Telezart

2199 AD
Sometime in the 22nd Century, riots broke out through much of Telezart, eventually leading into a full-scale world war. Teresa prayed for peace and tried to use her powers to make this happen, but the result turned Telezart into a barren, desolate wasteland of a world. By 2199, Teresa was the sole survivor on Telezart.

2200 AD
When the White Comet appeared, Teresa sent a warning message throughout the Cosmos. Shortly thereafter, General Zabaibal’s forces arrived to blockade Telezart and cut off her communications.

2201 AD
After the Yamato received the message from Teresa, they defeated the Goland Fleet and Zabaibal’s forces and landed on Telezart. Teresa told the crew about the terror brought on by the White Comet. After Yamato left, she used her powers to disrupt the path of the White Comet by exploding Telezart.

Teresa faces the White Comet

2201 AD
Moved by her newfound love for a member of Yamato‘s crew, Teresa gave her life to destroy the White Comet and give Earth a future of freedom.

Dark Nebula Empire History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
Since the dawn of their civilization, the Dark Nebula Empire was focused on science and machinery. To more effectively spread into space and counter the enemies they would find, they greatly advanced their cyborg technology and produced an enormous army of mechanized humans.

The Machine Planet of the
Dark Nebula Empire

Birth of Civilzation (Earth time)
At some point in their history, the people of the Dark Nebula Empire had mechanized themselves to the point where they lost the ability to reproduce through natural means.

2199 AD
The Dark Nebula Empire’s forces led attacks against other star systems. Their ships headed for the Large Magellanic Cloud in order to gather more energy.

2202 AD
The ships sent out to the Large Magellanic Cloud were destroyed in a battle against both the Gamilas and Yamato.

Emperor Skaldart

For the most part, the Dark Nebula Empire had won their battles against other star systems. But because of their inability to reproduce, Emperor Skaldart created plans to begin capturing other lifeforms for breeding stock. This strategy would begin with the campaign against Earth. Although the attack was successful at first, Yamato was able to retaliate against their home planet. Yamato‘s wave-motion gun interacted with the molecules of the twin galaxies, causing the Dark and Light galaxies to both disintegrate. The entire Dark Nebula Empire disappeared in the huge energy wave.

Bolar Union History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
In the galactic core, the civilizations of various star systems developed independently of each other. But because they were comparatively close to each other, they no doubt had established a communications network. By the time humans appeared on the Earth, several civilizations had already risen and fallen.

The Rise of the Space Age (Earth time)
The star systems that comprised the “Inner Circle” of the galactic core civilizations established a Union. Although they didn’t invade other star systems at this time, they began to expand outward once they grew in power. Over time, the aggressive people of Planet Bolar took the lead in this effort and renamed it the Bolar Union.

Bolar Prime Minister Bemlayze

2201 AD
Bolar Prime Minister Bemlayze ordered the entire fleet to hunt down the location of the legendary Planet Shalbart, so he could use the power found there to his advantage. He had Queen Ruda captured and exiled.

2202 AD
The people of the subjugated Planet Galman revolted against their Bolar oppressors. Lead by Dessler, they claimed their independence and called themselves the Galman-Gamilas Empire. The Bolar Union set out to crush this new enemy.

2203 AD
The Bolar Union thought they could easily crush the rebellion, but the Galman-Gamilas Empire grew quickly and spread out into other territories. The Bolar began to invest heavily to increase their armaments.

Bemlayze gloats after destroying Planet Berth

A battle between a Galman fleet and a Bolar fleet from the Planet Berth carried into Earth’s solar system, damaging Earth’s sun and requiring Yamato to launch on a mission to find a new homeworld. Yamato‘s crew encountered Bemlayze on Planet Berth, but when they refused to ally themselves with the Bolar Union, Berth was destroyed in the subsequent battle.

Yamato became further embroiled in the war between the Galmans and the Bolar until the final battle between Dessler and Bemlayze was fought near Earth. Bemlayze was killed along with the main body of the Bolar fleet.

Later in the year, remaining Bolar worlds suffered the heaviest casualties during the dimensional rip that caused intergalactic collission. Their history came to a close as a result.

Planet Shalbart History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
Shalbart had a powerful military, and they covered vast regions of space in an effort to conquer and unify the galaxy. Their power was beyond the imagination of all the other civilizations at the time.

Birth of Civilization (Earth time)
Shalbart ruled the galaxy for several centuries, driving many of their subject worlds to starvation and death. Ultimately, they became horrified by what they had done. They withdrew all of their forces and disappeared from the galaxy soon after. In the centuries that followed, Shalbart passed into legend as a paradise planet, and many oppressed peoples came to see it as a promised land. The figurehead, Queen Ruda, became a symbol of worship.

Yamato crew members on Shalbart

2201-2202 AD
After Queen Ruda was captured by the Bolar Union, she was exiled to Planet Phantom. However, Phantom was actually a large, living organism, and it protected the Queen from harm.

2203 AD
Queen Ruda was rescued by Yamato, and offered to guide them through a dimensional gateway to Planet Shalbart. Both the Galmans and the Bolar followed in secret, and the Bolar launched an attack. The citizens of Shalbart did not fight back because they had abandoned all of their aggressive tendancies. Yamato and Dessler fought to save them.

Denguil Empire History

Ancient Past (Earth time)
The original Denguil were a philanthropic race that acquired the means for interstellar travel early in their history. They sent their ships everywhere in missions of friendship.

The destruction of Yamato

Beginning of Civilization (Earth time)
The Denguil learned of the danger to Earth from the approaching waterworld Aquarius. They rushed ships to the Earth to conduct a massive rescue effort. The Denguil ships of this time were old-fashioned compared to the modern Terran or Galman-Gamilus models. The Denguil saved many people from drowning in the flood of Aquarius. However, once they reached Planet Denguil, the Terrans assimilated the Denguil technology and overthrew the civilization of their rescuers.

2203 AD
After Aquarius drowned their planet’s capital, the Denguil Empire directed the water world toward Earth using a massive warp system. Emperor Lugal planned to destroy Terran civilization by drowning the planet. The attack was stopped by Dessler and Yamato‘s crew, but Yamato herself was lost in the battle. The troubled Denguil history also came to an end with the death of all the remaining Denguil people.
