After watching the official trailer, Governor Boroze’ stock skyrocketed

What is this shocking development?

Watching 2199 left me utterly despairing. I thought, “I expected too much. Remakes are just this mediocre after all.”

I initially had no desire to watch 2202 either, starting only from Chapter 3. The finale was a bit of a mess, but I thought it passed muster.

The real transformation starts with 2205. It’s a textbook example of how a remake should be done, surpassing the masterpiece The New Voyage to become the best anime of the 21st century. So, I was expecting great things from 3199, but this is an insanely exciting development that keeps exceeding my expectations!!

I thought the last trailer was amazing, but this one shows an even more incredible development!!

I’ve repeatedly written on this blog that the Bolar Federation and the Galman-Garmillas Empire shouldn’t be at war with each other. Instead, Earth, the Galman-Garmillas Empire, and the Bolar Federation should form an anti-Dezarium alliance and fight together. Dezarium is the greatest threat to every nation, so this is the logical conclusion.

The Bolar Federation fleet was annihilated instantly by the Dezarium fleet, and if they wear down their forces fighting the Galman-Garmillas Empire, they’ll just be handing Dezarium the spoils of war. But this is anime, so I figured it wouldn’t play out that way. However, judging from this preview, could it be that the Bolar Federation and the Galman-Garmillas Empire might join forces?

It looked like Bemlayze and Dessler were conversing across the screen, and it was unexpected to see Bolar trying to persuade Daria by saying, “They intend to confront the Witch of Uralia.”

Boroze took the threat of the Witch of Uralia seriously for a Bolar Federation military officer, and since he wasn’t killed but spared (despite his rudeness to Dessler), he might feel some gratitude.

I thought the terms for the Bolar Federation and the Galman-Garmillas Empire to make peace should be: the Bolar Federation recognizing the Galman-Garmillas Empire’s independence and ceding the waters near Galman’s homeworld; recognizing the independence of the planet Berth; and handing over Boroze to the Galman-Garmillas Empire for public execution, since he imposed oppressive rule on Galman’s homeworld and created the trigger for war with the Galman-Garmillas Empire.

But now it seems Boroze actually suggests an alliance? That’s gotta be the most intense development in this preview of intense developments!! Boroze’s unexpected change of heart completely flips everyone’s opinion of him!! Plus, there was a scene of Ram talking with Bemlayze, so Ram must be trying to persuade him too.

The Bolar Federation in Yamato III had character designs that looked like generic extras and weren’t cool at all.
But Bemlayze in 3199 has a presence like Al Capone, his uniform looks cool, he’s become more Soviet-like, and his appeal has increased dramatically. So I really wanted the Bolar Federation to ally with the Galman-Garmillas Empire, hoping both Bemlayze and the Bolar Federation would survive. Judging by the preview, that wish might just come true.

In fact, the Chapter 5 poster shows Ra-Jendora participating in the Digeblas assault, so expectations are high!!

Also, at the end of the trailer, Yamanami says, “I want to entrust the navigation to two people.”

Those two people are Sasha and Alphon, right? Sasha is the only non-Dezarian who knows Dezarium’s location, so one of them is definitely Sasha. And among the Dezarian people, Alphon is the only one likely to cooperate with Yamato. Alphon, who suffered terribly at the hands of Mother Dezarium, might decide to help Yamato after seeing people fighting against that very Mother Dezarium. Alphon becoming an ally is super exciting too!!

Honestly, I always thought Be Forever was full of contradictions and the least appealing of the original series, but isn’t 3199 just incredible? Even combining all the original series, I think 3199 is my all-time favorite!! Personally, it’s becoming the best anime of my life!!

I’m really looking forward to Chapter 5’s release!! Everyone, please watch 3199!!

The Conflict of Humans on Earth

See the original post here

The Chapter 5 preview showed Dezarium using Comm-medals to brainwash Earth humans. In the original series, Kazan’s Earth-based fleet pursued Yamato, leaving the ground forces behind to be defeated by lightly-armed partisans.

In 3199, even if Kazan’s fleet pursues Yamato, Earth would need significant combat power to counter them, given the presence of ships like the three-legged tanks and multi-legged tanks. Furthermore, with Dezarium collaborators like Shino Todo and Kozo Nanbu, plus brainwashed Earthlings, it won’t be as straightforward as in the original series.
I’m curious how 3199 will handle this aspect.

However, Dezarium itself seems half-hearted. They go to great lengths to fake Nanbu’s terrorism, yet they imprison former Chief Director Todo and former Vice Chief Director Serizawa without brainwashing them. Since former Chief Todo and others would find it hard to operate on Earth under Dezarium’s control, wouldn’t it be better if they somehow escaped and formed an exile government in the Galman-Garmillas Empire, like de Gaulle did with the Free French Government in London?

They could gather an Earth fleet opposed to Dezarium’s rule within the Galman-Garmillas Empire, gain its cooperation, and liberate Earth. It might lead to a civil war between the Dezarium-aligned Earth forces and the Dezarium-opposing Earth forces allied with the Galman-Garmillas Empire. But I can’t imagine people like Shino Todo would be persuaded by negotiations, so isn’t this the only way?

Frankly, how naive are the Dezarium appeasers? They swallow whole the line “We are the future humans of Earth” and permit the occupation?

Dezarium’s occupation has already caused deaths on Earth, so the Dezarium appeasers should be eliminated by Earth’s own hands. But since it’s anime, they’ll probably give Shino and Nanbu Kōzō some justification like “We had no choice,” and then after realizing their mistake, they’ll sacrifice themselves to save Earth. Personally, I think it should be more like Colonel Gaddafi: caught by Earthlings while fleeing, lynched, and killed. That’s just about right. After the war, every single Dezarium collaborator should be arrested and executed for treason.

Dezarium is so despicably underhanded it’s hard to believe it’s an anime, and they’re truly hateful. But the Earthlings who kowtow to Dezarium are just as hateful, right? I can only think “serves them right” if Shinno and Kozo die.

I’m really looking forward to Chapter 5’s release!! Everyone, please watch 3199!!

Will the Bolar Federation ally with the Galman-Garmillas Empire to fight Dezarium?

See the original post here

Judging from the preview video…

① Chairman Bemlayze and Leader Dessler hold a direct meeting via screen
② Former Governor Boroze defends the Galman-Garmillas Empire fighting Dezarium, causing Daria to become enraged
③ Chairman Bemlayze and Grand Duke Ram hold a direct meeting

These scenes were observed. There was also a scene showing the immigrant fleet departing Earth under attack by the Bolar Federation. In response to this, perhaps in ①, Leader Dessler proposes an alliance with Chairman Bemlayze to cease hostilities between their nations and eliminate Dezarium, the greatest threat to both?

② Former Governor Boroze, learning of ①’s content, defends the anti-Dezarium alliance, leading to his confrontation with Daria. From her position of protecting Chairman Bemlayze, she likely wants to avoid a decisive confrontation with Dezarium, as full-scale war hasn’t yet begun.

Based on his previous remarks, Former Governor Boroze seems to possess some information about the Witch of Uralia. Though he once adopted a high-handed attitude toward Leader Dessler and the Galman people, he was likely moved when the Galman-Garmillas Empire decided to confront the Witch of Uralia in earnest.

Unlike Daria, who ignores the Witch of Uralia, he probably concluded that the threat wouldn’t vanish by silence alone. Thus, he likely came to believe the Galman-Garmillas Empire should join forces to eliminate the Witch of Uralia.

In ③, Grand Duke Ram personally persuades Chairman Bemlayze during a direct meeting. Had this been Prime Minister Bemlayze of Yamato III, he would have raged, “You were an enemy prisoner and still had the nerve to return?” and likely ordered his execution. However, the Bemlayze Chairman of 3199 differs from the Prime Minister of Yamato III; he possesses thoughtful deliberation and a dignified presence.

I believe Chairman Bemlayze will ultimately accept Leader Dessler’s proposal, leading to the formation of an anti-Dezarium alliance.

Chairman Bemlayze has a commanding presence like Al Capone and looks cool. The phrase “overthrow the Imperial Bolar” also suggests he’s a revolutionary fighter who hates tyranny. The Bolar Federation in 3199 has become more Soviet-like, increasing its appeal. If the Galman-Garmillas Empire and the Bolar Federation form an alliance to fight Dezarium, I think it would be so moving it would bring tears to my eyes.

Grand Duke Ram never imagined he’d end up in such a role either, so I’m just deeply moved by this dramatic turn of events.

But what moved me even more was former Governor Boroze. Isn’t this just Black Takizawa Theory — where someone who usually does bad things looks incredibly good when they do something good? (laugh)

Judging by this poster, it looks like Ra-Jendora and the Ganonda-type space carrier are participating in the Digeblas campaign. I’m really hoping for the participation of Grand Duke Ram and former Governor Boroze!!

The Bolar Federation in 3199 is just too fascinating. It’d be a shame to wipe them out with, “Just to be sure, what denomination should we arrange your funeral in, Bemlayze-kun?”

Earth, the Galman-Garmillas Empire, and the Bolar Federation should form a Tripartite Alliance. We should say, “Just to be sure, what denomination should we arrange your funeral in, Mr. Skaldart?” and destroy Dezarium.

The Dezarium forces should be completely annihilated, and they should be prohibited from possessing any military force whatsoever going forward. And Mother Dezarium should be disposed of as shown in the link above. After doing all that, will rewriting the Mother Dezarium program suffice? That’s way too naive!!

Mother Dezarium should be completely destroyed. Shino Todo and Kozo Nanbu should be arrested after the war and executed for the crime of inviting foreign aggression. In the history of Japanese anime, there’s no enemy more despicable than Dezarium from 3199. May Dezarium and the Earthlings who allied with it meet the most miserable end imaginable!!

I’m really looking forward to Chapter 5’s release!! Everyone, please watch 3199!!

Who are the two entrusted with piloting?

See the original post here

Captain Yamanami says in the preview, “I want to entrust the piloting to two people. To the future, 100 years from now.”

I think Sasha is definitely one of them, but who will the other be? Will Major Alphon, who like Earthlings is also a victim of Mother Dezarium, become an ally of Yamato? Or perhaps something happens to Major Alphon, causing Isidore, who has changed his mind, to become an ally of Yamato?

Personally, I predict a scenario where, due to Mother Dezarium, Major Alphon’s fate becomes unknown, and Isidore, who rebels against Mother Dezarium’s methods, becomes an ally.

Ultimately, Major Alphon is alive, but Isidore persuades him, “Let’s stop supporting Mother Dezarium.”

Then, Major Alphon ends up standing before Yuki in the Grand Reverse, just like in Be Forever, gets shot by the Partisans, and reveals the secret of the Grand Reverse right before dying. But 3199 often takes unexpected turns, so there’s also the possibility Kaoru Niimi escaped successfully and reunites with Yamato. Unlike Sasha, who seemed deliberately let go to join Yamato, Kaoru is surely being watched closely.

That’s why I think there’s also the possibility that Heini is alive, rescues Kaoru, and they escape successfully.

I’ve written this many times before, but given how important Heini was, I felt he had too few standout moments to just die off. Plus, there wasn’t an explicit scene showing his death, so I believe Heini is alive and will have his moment in 3199. If he doesn’t get his moment here, I think he’ll have a big scene rescuing Sasha on Dezarium’s homeworld.

I’m hoping, with a bit of wishful thinking, that Sasha survives. In the original series, after Farewell, they got hooked on the formula of “killing someone to create drama.” These days, that kind of old-school Showa-era storytelling doesn’t really fly anymore, so I really want Sasha to survive and become Mrs. Dessler. It would also mean Dessler could find happiness by marrying the daughter of his beloved Starsha.

If the Hyper Dessler Cannon obliterates the entire Dezarium homeworld along with Mother Dezarium, and Sasha survives to become Mrs. Dessler, then 3199 would become an even greater masterpiece. I really hope it ends like that!!

I’m really looking forward to Chapter 5’s release!! Everyone, please watch 3199!!
