On a snowy Mars
The Space Battleship Yamato had to bring back a device to neutralize radiation on Earth within a year. However, their destination was the planet Iscandar, 148,000 light years away. Yamato attempted a warp jump to shorten the travel time. It was successful.
If they could do this, they could get there and back in a year. The crew rejoiced. But then they realized that Yamato was damaged.
“We’ll crash-land on Mars and repair it!”
Following Captain Okita’s orders, Yamato landed on snowy Mars.
“Wow, it’s snowing!“
The crew members were overjoyed, seeing snow for the first time in a long while. Meanwhile, with Analyzer joining them, the members of the repair team worked diligently.
Kodai and Shima recalled that they had trained on Mars.
“And it was here that we discovered Sasha, the emissary of Iscandar.
“She’s dead, but the message she sent us leads to Iscandar.”
Like hyenas hunting their prey, the Gamilas launched an attack on the damaged Yamato.
“It would be terrible if we had to start all over again just when the repairs are almost finished. Let’s drive away the Gamilas and depart!”
On Captain Okita’s orders, Yamato unleashed a shock cannon barrage. The Gamilas forces attacked one after another, only to be shot down.
“Launch!”
The Space Battleship Yamato took off into outer space.
Into the sea of methane gas
The Gamilas could be lying in wait anywhere, and Yamato also needed to finish its repairs.
“Hmmm, Something’s wrong. The ship is starting to be pulled in.”
“What’s wrong, Shima? Take care of it!”
“No good, we’re being dragged along!”
Yamato fell into a sea of methane.
“It’s Jupiter. Jupiter is made entirely of something like methane gas.”
“Captain, we have no choice but to gather our energy and release it all at once!”
The scientist, Sanada, made the proposal.
“OK, everything switch off!” Captain Okita called out, and most of the lights inside Yamato went out, plunging the ship into dim light.
There was no way the Gamilas would overlook Yamato. They issued an order to attack from their base on a floating continent that was moving across the methane sea.
Yamato in danger
The floating continent was an island about the size of Kyushu, and the top of the island looked like a jungle. Moreover, all the plants on the island were gigantic. Below, it looked like icicles were hanging down.
The Gamilas launched missiles from that floating continent. Yamato remained motionless. The missiles hit their targets one after another. Kodai was getting irritated.
“Can’t we do anything yet? At this rate, we’ll be blown to pieces!
“How much energy has been built up?”
“Right now, 90%!”
“We’re almost there. Be patient.“
The floating continent moved and targeted Yamato. The voice of supreme Commander Dessler came from the command center on Planet Gamilas.
“It looks like Yamato can’t move. Now is our chance to destroy it!”
“Crash the entire continent into it!”
Anxiety gradually spread among the crew of Yamato. One after another, voices called for a decision.
“Captain, aren’t we going to do anything yet?”
“Part of the deck has been blown up!”
“Captain, the floating continent is heading this way!”
“What about the energy?”
“We’ve reached 100%!
“All right. Let’s use the Wave-Motion Gun to target the base on the floating continent!”
Use the Wave-Motion gun!
Following captain Okita’s orders, Kodai began preparing to fire. The Wave-Motion gun compressed all the energy in the entire universe, as if tightly tying it into a ball. It was Yamato’s ultimate weapon.
“Ready for firing!”
“Fire!”
The muzzle at the bow of Yamato suddenly lit up, and a torrent of light shot out. The stream of light struck the Gamilas base on the floating continent, but its force was so great that it blew the entire continent away. Kodai was surprised. Captain Okita was also surprised.
“We destroyed the floating continent!”
“With this, we’ll be fine no matter what enemy comes along.”
Captain Okita spoke to the overjoyed young space warrior with a serious expression.
“We only intended to destroy the Gamilas base, but the whole continent…”
It was completely destroyed. This was not good. Once nature is destroyed, it can never be restored to its original state.
“We need to be extremely careful about how we use the Wave-Motion Gun.”
Yamato increased its energy and emerged from the sea of methane.
The Gamilas forces on Pluto were already waiting for Yamato to arrive. They had set up a secret weapon. The journey of Space Battleship Yamato would not be a safe one.
