  • Interesting discovery: a couple days ago I found a complete Yamato 2199 staff list at Bandai Visual's website and translated all the credits for future reference. Here are a few superstars that popped out at me…

Masahiko Okura (storyboard for eps 18 & 25) - played a major role in early development for Yamato Resurrection.

Toshihiro Kawamoto (animation director for ep 10) - has a huge list of anime design credits, first to modernize the Leiji Matsumoto style for the COCKPIT OAV series in the 90s. Also created a series of Yamato video packaging art.

Keisuke Masunaga (character animation director, ep 15) - He supervised the redesign and animation for the Yamato Playstation games, which helped mightily to revive the franchise. He's been heavily associated with Leiji Matsumoto projects ever since, which landed him on the wrong side of the political barrier. His participation in 2199 is a welcome surprise.
