When the Comet Empire first appeared on movie and TV screens in 1978, only Bandai and a smaller toy company called Nomura had the rights to create model kits and fans were limited to their choices. In the decades since, the independent garage kit industry came into its own and filled in most of the gaps. Presented here is a comprehensive collection of all the Comet Empire mecha that has been released in 3-D form from a host of different companies.

At first I thought the Gatlantis model was a bowl of noodles!
Nice models. Of course one of my favorites is the Comet Empire Battleship. I remembering watching the “Battle of Saturn” as a kid thinking that is the most powerful ship out there. Nice detail on that model.
Later on in life, I had more respect for the Nazca class carrier since it reminded me of the light carriers that were used in WW2. The last two pictures of that K2M model are pretty good.
Anyone know how someone in the US could go about finding these garage kits? Would they be sold on any japanese auction sites or direct from hobby stores? Does Mandarake have an online catalog and do they ship to the US?
Mandarake does have an English side that does ship to the US. However, production runs on garage kits are very limited and the manufacturers can only sell them in person at hobby shows. After that, you have to crawl through 2nd hand stores in Japan or online auctions (most if not all of the photos of them came from online auctions). The chase can be fun, but probably unproductive.
Where can I find model of the white comet empire city and why was it never produced by Bandai?
The only models ever made of it were garage kits, only available from second hand sources. Bandai is the only one who can answer your question about Bandai.
