From April 2012 through August 2013, the seven chapters of Space Battleship Yamato 2199 came and went in succession for two-week engagements in Japanese cinema, starting with ten theaters and finishing with sixteen. The chance to see new episodes on the big screen was the main attraction, but not the only one – every participating theater sold exclusive 2199 merchandise, with a new wave accompanying each film.
Most of these “theater goods” were manufactured by a company called Froovie, which specializes in such items and rolls them out for film franchises both large and small. (See their website here and their Yamato 2199 page here.) Taken as a single body of merchandising, this product line is staggering in both volume (well over 200 individual items) and variety.
They were covered along with each movie opening in the 2199 reports elsewhere on this website, but now that all seven chapters are part of history we can organize and view them by category. Whether you use this as a checklist for your own collection or simply enjoy watching the trends of Yamato swag, this catalog is here for you.
Note: products released with the Yamato 2199 movies are not included here, but can be found in the links at the end of the page.
