Space Battleship Yamato Trivia

• Yuki Mori’s costume was designed by a professional fashion designer, which is unprecedented in an animated film.

• Another exciting feature of this film is the appearance of a number of sophisticated scientific mechanisms. The film features the Yamato, there is enemy’s giant white comet, a state-of-the-art fleet and fighter planes. From the latest battleship Andromeda to avant-garde UFOs, there are many dreams unique to science-fiction movies.

• Animation data – Number of images used: 60,000. Total number of shots: 2300. Number of colors: over 150. Explosions: 700. Production staff: 1,200.

• Music was composed by Hiroshi Miyagawa and lyrics by Yuu Aku. The main theme is From Yamato With Love. The song dedicated to Teresa, the goddess of love and prayer, is Teresa Forever. The fighting spirit of Dessler, a space exile, is expressed in The Rival.

• The staff’s passion for this film is tremendous. It is not uncommon for meetings to begin at 10:00 in the morning and continue until 2:00 the next morning. The staff was so enthusiastic that they even went to Hawaii to see the popular films Star Wars and Close Encounters.

• A pipe organ and orchestral performance, which are unique for film music, is used to effectively express the “unfathomable evil” of Gatlantis, the planet led by Emperor Zordar.
