Susumu Kodai is not dead!?

Space Battleship Yamato 2 will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 14 (7:00 – 7:30 p.m.) on NTV. In “Part 1,” Yamato‘s goal was to save the Earth, but now it is once again embarking on a space battle to save the entire universe from danger.

The universe is in the midst of an unprecedented crisis due to the appearance of a giant white comet. Susumu Kodai and his fellow space soldiers board the decommissioned Yamato. They set out in a battle of love and courage, overcoming the opposition of the Earth Defense Force Command.

The story is a drama of dreams and adventures in space. How will Yamato fight against the White Comet Army, which aims to destroy the Earth? I am also interested in how it differs from the movie Farewell to Yamato.

Will Susumu Kodai survive?!

A big guess as to the TV ending…

Susumu Kodai rides on Yamato, with the dead Yuki Mori sitting by his side, charging toward the huge battleship.

“Yuki, this is our honeymoon,” Kodai says to her. “We will always be together.”

A flame spreads throughout the universe. Then, after a slight delay, a loud sound echoes.

This is the last scene of Farewell to Yamato. If you saw the movie, you would think that Yamato had crashed into the huge battleship. You must have also thought that Susumu Kodai was dead. The film certainly implies that.

So, will there be a TV version of this moving scene? Clearly, there is a big difference between the development of the story if there is a “last scene” and if there is not. That is why the last scene is so significant.

According to Yamato‘s TV production staff, Susumu Kodai “does not die” in the TV series. This story clarifies that Susumu Kodai died in the movie, but not at the end of the series.

As I mentioned earlier, this makes a big difference in the development of the story. However, even among those involved in TV production, it seems to have been decided that Susumu Kodai will not die. So, I tried not to think about the movie finale and “guess” at a last scene in which Susumu Kodai does not die.

Yamato wins against the comet side!

First of all, the rough story is that Yamato, in cooperation with Andromeda, could destroy the Gatlantis Empire and the army led by Dessler. Then, Susumu Kodai should not have to think about dying at the end.

Another battle with Dessler!

The other possibility is that if Emperor Zordar of Gatlantis is dead, the stubborn Dessler may regroup his forces and attack the Earth again. Susumu Kodai and his colleagues have been preparing for such a situation by rebuilding Yamato.

However, if Kodai survives, he will be severely punished for breaking military discipline and launching Yamato. He should be given a heavy sentence. Kodai asks Earth Defense headquarters to punish him alone, as he is the one responsible, but in the end, everyone who took part is punished.

But, to add a little more speculation, as the trial of Kodai and the others is underway, Dessler leads his army to attack Earth.

The public clamors that Kodai should be acquitted because he was acting for the love of peace in the universe. The headquarters cannot ignore public opinion, so they appoint Susumu Kodai as the person in charge of launching Yamato.

What do you think will happen?
