Ship’s Log Volume 8 pages

Ark of the Stars Character & Mechanic designs

On August 8, a moratorium was lifted when the new key visual was revealed, and you’ve probably already seen the “second press release,” but here we bring you a flash of new designs for characters and mecha.

This valuable information is presented only to Yamato Crew Premium members and has not yet been published elsewhere. Please examine this exclusive scoop closely.

Gutaba Expeditionary Force Supreme Governor-General Goran Dagarm

Commander of the Gatlantis task force. He declares himself Supreme Governor-General Goran “The Thunder” Dagarm of the Gutaba Expeditionary force and demands that Yamato be handed over.

Neredia Rikke [Ree-kay]

Captain of the Gelvades-class battle carrier Mirangal. A female Garmillas soldier who appears in Ark of the Stars.

Mikage Kiryu

Cadet in the technology division. Backup for Sanada on the first bridge. Only a rough draft for Kiryu existed before now, but a final version was drawn this time.

As the editing of this magazine neared completion, some surprising information popped up. Space was quickly rearranged for this astonishing data.

TOP:
Gelvades-class astro battle carrier Mirangal

The image of Gelvades-class astro battle carrier Mirangal can be checked against the key visual. The captain of this ship is Neredia Rikke. Its camouflage is split between light grey and dark grey.

MIDDLE:
Gatlantis Invasion Fleet

A Gatlantis fleet appeared in Yamato 2199 Episode 11. This time, it was decided that it will appear in 3DCG. Here are specific design drawings for the 3DCG production.

BOTTOM LEFT:
Special Recon Boat

An aircraft that sortied against the Gamilas Reflection Satellite Gun on Pluto in the original series. It was decided to have Junichiro Tamamori refine it for Ark of the Stars.

BOTTOM RIGHT:
The name of this ship has not been announced yet, but as you can guess from its silhouette, it seems to be a class of battleship equipped with a flame-strike gun.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Complete Collection of Records [tentative] release decision!!

Do you know about the Treasury Space Battleship Yamato Complete Collection of Records that once existed? These hardcover books exceeded 1,000 pages; first, middle, and last volumes of about 300 pages each that were stored in a sturdy display case. The contents included 2800 stills printed directly from film frames, and was composed mainly of detailed design data and unpublished material.

Between the content and the gorgeous binding, it came to be popularly known as “deluxe books” by fans and anyone who saw them. Although this was an expensive item that cost around 30000yen [$300] in the late 1970s, fans rushed to buy these “deluxe books” and generated record sales. The series continued with Farewell, The New Voyage, Be Forever, and Final Yamato, and owning the “deluxe books” for each put fans in a special category as proof of a true Yamato follower.

Later, when Yamato Resurrection was released in 2009, the Complete Box carried out the “resurrection” of the “deluxe books.”

…and in 2014, the “deluxe books” will revive again as the Yamato 2199 Complete Collection of Records [tentative]. The plan arose and went into pre-production last year, and their release at the end of this year has finally been decided. Work is now progressing concurrently between Mag Garden and the editorial department of Ship’s Log. Please stand by for followup details shortly.
