Be Forever Yamato REBEL 3199 Chapter 2 blog review

CAUTION: SPOILERS

Part 1: The True Identity of the Dezarium People

Posted November 23 by blogger Hoshi Suzu. See the post here.

Today, I watched Chapter 2. I was looking forward to it, but it was even better than I expected. There are so many things I want to write about that I can’t write them all in one go, so today I’ll just write down my main impressions while I’m working the night shift. I might have misremembered a few things, so please forgive me for that.

First of all, at the beginning of Chapter 2, Emperor Skladart says that they are the descendants of Earthlings. I was in the third grade when I saw Be Forever, and even then I thought, “What a sneaky guy, pretending to be an Earthling even though he’s an alien.” So I thought that in 3199 they would appear as realistic human beings.

I had guessed that they were either survivors of the Martian government or Earthlings from a parallel world who continued to use the Time Fault, but there was no mention of either. This means that the Dezarium people are likely aliens pretending to be Earthlings.

Prime Minister Bemlarze places great importance on the testimony of Governor Boroze who saw the “Light of Uralia,” and sends a large fleet to Earth. As a result, they engage in battle with the Dezarium fleet. Although the Bolar Federation sinks some of the Dezarium ships, they are completely defeated. The fleet battle between the enemy nations is interesting, but if the Bolar Federation was overwhelmed, they would become a weak enemy, and the battles with Yamato and the Garmillan Empire would have looked cheap, so I thought this was a double-edged sword.

After showing off their strength, Skaldart speaks about how they are the descendants of Earthlings, and some Earthlings begin to accept Dezarium.

Dezarium is an Earth from the future, and as a result of the continued use of the Wave-Motion Gun, the solar system began to be eroded from near Saturn, and his body could no longer withstand it, so he became a cyborg. At that time, a space-time node was accidentally created, connecting him to the universe of 2207.

Dezarium’s technological capabilities were no match for Iscandar’s, so they planned to bring Iscandar to Dezarium’s home planet and revive the Earth of 3199 with the Cosmo Reverse. However, this plan failed due to interference from Yamato and Dessler. The Grand Reverse that descended to Earth is a Dezarium-made Cosmo Reverse, but it can’t be activated without Sasha, a fragment of Iscandar, and a genuine Iscandar-made wave core. That’s why they try to capture Sasha and Yamato. That is Dezarium’s argument.

From here, I’ll write my opinion.

As I wrote above, I think the possibility that the Dezarium people are Earthlings from the future has disappeared. They are probably aliens living in another universe. However, since Mother Dezarium calls Wave-Motion Energy an “abominable existence,” it is likely true that wave energy had a negative effect on the other universe in which Dezarium exists, causing the Dezarium people to lose their bodies.

According to Sanada’s analysis, the true identity of the Grand Reverse is a heavy nucleon bomb that wipes the brains of Earthlings. As I predicted before, the purpose of this is to erase the brains of Earthlings, write the memories of Dezarium people into them, and obtain bodies.

Yamato is hidden in the Icarus Observatory, and the crew gathers there. When Skaldart finds out, he sends a Goruba to attack, but Yamato fires wave cartridge bullets at it. The wave cartridge bullets, which are solid rounds, break through Goruba’s barrier-like phase barrier and shoot it down. Goruba in the remake doesn’t feel as overwhelmingly strong as in The New Voyage, but it is much better than the cheap scene in Be Forever, where a wave cartridge bullet flew into Goruba’s muzzle and caused a huge explosion.

Domon’s ingenuity manages to fend off Grodez, with Lambell on board, but Major Alphon boards Yamato alone and kidnaps Niimi and Sasha. Alphon is very strong in physical combat, and is incredibly cool. I think he’s become a really great character in the remake.

Sasha is still a child, but I think she’ll be abducted by Dezarium and forced to turn 17. However, as I predicted, the royal family of Iscandar seems to have memories, and they probably have intelligence proportional to their physical size.

As I predicted, Yamato heads to the center of the galaxy toward the home planet of Dezarium. On the way, it will pass through the area controlled by the Bolar Federation, so it will probably join forces with Dessler there.

However, Major Alphon says that the Wave Engine cannot cross the space-time node. Therefore, it seems that the scenario will be that they go to Shalbart and install an engine that can cross the space-time node, or they will defeat the Dezarium Earth occupation forces before arriving at the home planet of Dezarium, get the blueprints for an engine that can cross the space-time node from Major Alphon, and then install the engine at the Garmillan Empire before heading to the home planet of Dezarium.

Also, looking at Earth, Nanbu Heavy Industries is allied with Dezarium, but the Ageha Financial Group is on the side of Director Todo and Yamato. It’s interesting to see how the big companies also have different positions.

Dessler never appears, and the Deusula III is only shown in the trailer. I was sad that it wasn’t the new Dessler ship. I don’t know if the Garmillan Empire will continue to fight the war with Garmillan ships, or if their ships will appear at some point. There will probably be plastic models for sale, so I hope Garmillan ships will appear.

Part 2: Earth Government Response

Posted November 24 by blogger Hoshi Suzu. See the post here.

It’s been a while since I watched Chapter 2, but I can’t calm down from the excitement. This time, let’s think about the response of the Earth Government, which was overwhelmed by Dezarium without being able to do anything.

During Dezarium’s invasion, there were almost no defensive battles on Earth, and it was overwhelmed with almost no resistance. Half of the important people in the Earth Government and military personnel became Dezarium sympathizers and cooperated in the overthrow of Earth. I thought it would be explained how they were able to achieve this in Chapter 2, but there was no detailed explanation. I thought it was important, but since it wasn’t explained this time, it probably won’t be explained in the future.

Common sense tells me that once they’ve gained that many allies, the information would have spread far and been picked up by the government’s intelligence network. The government should have taken measures, because they couldn’t just take the word of an unidentified person, even if he was an “Earthling from the future.” Given the situation, they could have uncovered spies like Stalin. But the fact that even the president couldn’t get a grip on the situation up to this point shows that the intelligence network is not functioning properly.

On top of that, it’s strange to just say “Yes, please” when someone says “I’ll protect you.” And the Dezarium people have already started settling on Earth. With such a powerful military, if there’s any trouble between the settlers and the Earthlings, it’s obvious that the Earthlings would be massacred, and since they’re under military occupation, they wouldn’t have any way to resist, right?

To be honest, I felt that the scenario in which Dezarium was able to occupy Earth so easily because they had allies there was a bit far-fetched. If they go that far, I think it would be really exciting if the Earth government split up like the Vichy government that surrendered to Nazi Germany in World War II, and the Free French government that defected to Britain.

Admiral Todo could defect to the Garmillan Empire, establish the “Free Earth Government,” gather together the Earth military that refuses to accept the occupation, and try to retake Earth together with the Garmillan fleet. The Earth military that accepted Dezarium would consider those that joined the Garmillan Empire a “rebel army” and cooperate with the Dezarium fleet to defend Earth.

Don’t you think it would be really exciting if Andromeda-type ships split into allies and enemies and fought as the Garmillan Empire/Free Earth Government Allied Forces vs. the Dezarium/Earth Government Allied Forces?

I respect Charles de Gaulle, who was the representative of the Free French government and later became president. A long time ago, I rescued a kitten that was abandoned by its mother and was weak and near death, and I kept it. I named it “Charles” after de Gaulle, hoping that it would live a strong life. So I thought it would be cool if Director Todo could take a position like de Gaulle.

Well, the above is just my wish, but…

Article 81: Anyone who conspires with a foreign country to use force against Japan shall be sentenced to death. This is the most serious crime in the Japanese criminal code. Even for robbery and murder, there is a possibility of avoiding the death penalty with “death penalty or life imprisonment,” but the crime of inciting foreign aggression is so serious that the only option is the death penalty.

Since Shino Todo and Kozo Nanbu are indeed guilty of inciting foreign aggression, I hope they will be arrested by Earthlings and sentenced to death after the war. They are outrageous people who easily believe the words of aliens they have never met and sell out their own kind. Maybe a story is being prepared where they realize their mistake along the way, steal Dezarium’s secrets, and die.

By the way, it’s interesting that Earth’s financial circles are divided, with Nanbu Heavy Industries cooperating with Dezarium and the Ageha Financial Group being hostile. What’s even more interesting is that in both cases, the sons of both families did not take over, but volunteered to join the military and are fighting on the front lines. Even if there was a military draft system in Japan, the sons of these financial families would probably not be sent to the front lines because of their parents’ connections, and would be assigned to a safe position in the rear.

I’m planning to write about the Bolar Federation next time, so look forward to it!!

The female commander of the Bolar Federation is awesome, so I think that will be the main focus. But Chapter 3 is scheduled to be released on April 22nd, so that’s a long way to go. There are a lot of things I want to write about right now, but I don’t think I’ll have enough material for five months. (LOL)
