Yamato 2205 model catalog

Mecha Collection model 01

October 8, 2021

Deusula III was the first model kit of the 2205 era, and once everybody had the chance to study it in three dimensions it became evident how much the design has evolved since the similar Darold model from 2199. It’s larger, heavier, and many details differ from its predecessor.

It maintains a feature that has existed on the “red battle carrier” from the early days, the rotating deck plates that transform it from a flattop to a gun platform.

1/1000 Asuka model

October 30, 2021

Those who have been jonesing for a new version of the 1978 EDF carrier finally got their wish when the Asuka and Hyuga were revealed, and Asuka was the first one out of the chute in 3D.

At this scale it’s just under 10″ long and includes an LED lighting unit for the bridge. A 1/1000 Hyuga hasn’t been announced yet, but it sure would be nice to see one released with Part 2.

It looks very similar to 2199‘s Lambea, but the upper deck is slightly reshaped and the striping is quite different. Compare it to the earlier kit here.

1/350 Hyuga Diecast Gimmick Model

June 2022 to March 2024

Following the weekly releases of their 1/350 Yamato and Andromeda models, which took over three years between them, Hachette followed up with Combat Carrier Hyuga and no less than 40 individual aircraft to stock it with. Like the previous models, it was equipped with lights and sound effects, and took 80 volumes to complete. The finished kit is just under three feet long.
