These are the cast members who brought the voices of Space Battleship Yamato to life. The appeal of Yamato was also supported by the performances of the cast members. The photos shown here were taken during the final afreco (audio recording) session for Space Battleship Yamato, and are a valuable record of the time, along with original drawings with the cast members’ signatures.
At the time, the occupation of voice actor was still something only a few people knew about, but there were times when enthusiastic fans would visit the recording studio. The hit of the Yamato feature film (1977) after the TV series was broadcast was the trigger for the occupation of voice actor to attract a great deal of attention.
