The Space Battleship Yamato Complete Records Exhibition will finally be held this coming weekend. I visited collectors and helped borrow past production materials, so I’m looking forward to seeing it myself.

Various goods have already been announced for sale, and not only will there be original works from the 50th anniversary, there will also be goods from the remake series to commemorate the exhibition. I’ve also contributed illustrations, so I hope you’ll notice them.

I tried to create an official 2199 feel without asserting my own individuality in the coloring, so I used so-called anime coloring to finish the color as specified.

I was informed by the editorial department that the printing of my Yamato art book has been completed safely. That’s a relief. It seems that a sample will arrive tomorrow.

I’ve been packing my rough manga books since morning, but it was a lot of work packing three 120-size boxes. I heard that the merchandise will be sold on the second floor of Seibu Shibuya, so the rough manga books will be there. The art book will be sold at a special corner of Kinokuniya Bookstore adjacent to the exhibition on the seventh floor. It seems like a big move from up to down. But I’m looking forward to it.

I was contacted by the exhibition setup office, and they said that the rough manga books have arrived, but it’s taking a lot of time to deliver and prepare, so it’s expected to go on sale from the 18th (Tue) or 19th (Wed). I’m sorry for the delay

I also submitted a picture as a bonus for the purchase of the art book at all Maruzen Junkudo stores. It’s unclear at the moment whether it will be distributed in color or in black and white. I think it will be released around the 24th, which is the regular release date.

Since the Yamato art book at Kinokuniya Bookstore in Shibuya Seibu sold out, Kadokawa quickly gathered 20 copies and sent out an additional shipment. They will be distributed this weekend, so those who want to buy it will not have to wait long.

I also included an illustration for Comic ZIN’s purchase bonus, so it will be included with Maruzen Junkudo.

The Yamato Complete Records Exhibition is currently being held to great acclaim, but this year, a 4-hour radio special will be broadcast that will talk about Space Battleship Yamato and music. May 10th (Sat) from 3pm to 7pm. The program is called Radio Suite Space Battleship Yamato Final Chapter. The guest will be mecha designer Junichiro Tamamori. The program accepts requests for Yamato works from Part 1 to the latest work. The deadline is April 15th.

Yesterday, I mustered up the courage to go around the entire exhibition with someone I was meeting for the first time. SOY-YA!!, who sells garage kits of space ships. The perspective of modelers is different from that of artists, and of course each person’s memories of Yamato are different, so even though it was the same exhibition as the preview, I was able to look at it with a different impression. Unlike a museum exhibition, it’s a rare space where everyone has a common experience, and it’s rare to see an exhibition where everyone is excited and smiling.

From 3pm on May 10th, we will be broadcasting a 4-hour special program called Radio Suite Space Battleship Yamato Final Chapter, which will be devoted to talking about Space Battleship Yamato and music. This year’s guest will be Junichiro Tamamori, who has been in charge of mecha design since 2199.

The program is looking for requests. Please submit your requests by April 15th using the station’s request form. The program is also supporting an electronic petition campaign by fans calling for a 4K digital remaster of the complete version of The New Voyage (1979).

I talked about The New Voyage at Shinjuku Piccadilly: the scenes that were cut before being aired at the time, the voices of the voice actors, the music, etc. all still exist, and we are ready to restore it into a complete version. Now it’s important for the fans who want it to be heard. I would be happy if you could support my activity of making those voices and thoughts visible in the form of electronic signatures and delivering them to the relevant parties.
