Will the Galman-Garmillas Empire’s ships appear?
See the original post here
Although Chapter 3 of REBEL 3199 has been released, the new Dessler-class ships and other Galman-Garmillas Empire vessels from the original series have yet to appear. However, since Deusula III was relieved of its duty as Dessler’s flagship, there is still room for the new Dessler-class ships to make an appearance.
Nevertheless, there is concern that the design of the new Dessler-class ships may be significantly altered due to the ego of the remake staff wanting to leave their mark, similar to the redesign of the older Dessler-class ships. The new Dessler-class ships are my favorite vessels in the Yamato series, and I also greatly admire the Dessler gunboats, the two-tiered three-deck aircraft carriers, and the Galman-Garmillas Empire version of the combat aircraft carrier. I hope these ships follow their basic design like the Deusula III.
In 3199, the power disparity between the Galman-Garmillas Empire and the Bolar Federation is clear, so I think the only way to win is to mass-produce Dessler gunboats and annihilate the Bolar Federation’s fleet with Dessler guns. Even if they have hundreds or thousands of dimensional submarines, they probably wouldn’t be enough to annihilate the Bolar Federation’s fleet of tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of ships.
Even if the Galman-Garmillas Empire fleet continues to inflict devastating blows on the Bolar fleet, I doubt they’d have the strength left to occupy Bolar territory. Given the current state of the Galman-Garmillas Empire, I don’t think it’s likely to become a power capable of dividing the galaxy with the Bolar Federation.
Thinking about it that way, Yamato III feels like it lacked realism. Well, it’s an old anime, so I guess it can’t be helped. Gundam, for example, would never be able to develop mobile suits and deploy them in combat within nine months after learning of their existence. But if you get too caught up in such details, you can’t make anime, can you? (Laugh)
For someone like me who loves the Galman-Garmillas Empire’s warships, whether or not these ships appear is a matter of life and death. Moreover, seeing these ships appear and annihilate the hated Dezarium fleet is my life’s greatest ambition. Since Dessler suffered so badly in 2199, I think it would be nice if the Garmillas fleet appeared in the final installment of 3199 and annihilated Dezarium’s home planet as a surprise. I really hope that happens!!

About the partisans
See the original post here
In Be Forever Yamato, the Dark Nebula Empire occupied Earth, but Kazan’s fleet stationed on Earth pursued Yamato, leaving the ground forces stranded.
As I’ve written many times before, the plot of Be Forever is quite poorly constructed, and Kazan’s fleet, after sandwiching Yamato between seven Goruba-type floating fortresses, goes missing. Furthermore, the Dark Nebula’s ground forces, without fleet support, become isolated on Earth and are defeated by partisans with only infantry-level combat power. Even I, who was only in third grade at the time, thought that the Kazan fleet should have remained stationed on Earth.
In the case of 3199, the presence of traitors on the Earth side is a major complication. The Earth fleet has been so thoroughly undermined that it can no longer operate. Even if volunteers attempt to gather partisans, the soldiers they recruit might be traitors who report them to Dezarium, leading to their suppression before they can act.
Worse still, even if the partisans rise up in the name of Earth’s liberation, they might end up fighting Earthlings who have allied with Dezarium. If that happens, even if the partisans defeat Dezarium and reclaim Earth, a post-war purge of Earthlings who allied with Dezarium would begin, and all the traitors would be ruthlessly purged.
Considering that Dezarium people are cyborgs, their population isn’t very large. Therefore, they probably don’t have an overwhelming fleet of millions of ships like Gatlantis, and their Earth occupation forces probably don’t number in the millions or tens of millions. That said, Dezarium possesses a large number of tanks, so the partisans probably can’t counter them with small arms alone, as in the previous work.
In 3199, Dezarium civilians have also colonized Earth, so the partisans will likely have to fight while involving Dezarium civilians. In a real war, there might be cases where Earth civilians driven by a desire for revenge kill Dezarium civilians like Fleur. I don’t think they’ll go that far in 3199, but I’m curious about what will happen to the Dezarium civilians who have settled on Earth.
3199 is a long series, so there’s plenty of time, and I hope they’ll depict the partisans’ battle to liberate Earth in detail. I can’t wait for Chapter 4!

About Susumu Kodai
See the original post here
This isn’t limited to 3199, but applies to remakes in general: there are too many characters, and the roles that Kodai used to play are now being taken on by other characters. As a result, Kodai’s presence as the protagonist feels too weak. Even in 3199, the tactical commander’s duties are handled by Domon, leaving Kodai hanging in limbo.
Therefore, the concept was added where Alphon’s consciousness jumps to a spare body existing in another dimension and he directly confronts Kodai. At first glance, this seems brilliant, but if such a concept exists, even if the Holy Supreme Commander Skaldart is defeated on Dezarium’s home planet, he could transfer his consciousness to a spare body just before the planet’s destruction, resurrect, regroup his forces, and continue the war.
When you think about it, this concept also leaves something to be desired.
In the original second series, after Yamato directly confronts Dessler, they reconcile, so their interactions in New Voyage or Yamato III have meaning. However, in 2202, it’s unclear why the two have reconciled. The changes made to Dessler in 2199 still linger. I think it would have been better to create an episode in 2202 where the two reconcile.
Unlike Be Forever, 3199 has a longer runtime, so the time Sasha is separated from the others will also be longer. That means there will probably be more episodes with Sasha. As I’ve mentioned before, Sasha was treated terribly in Be Forever, so I really hope she survives in 3199.
If she stays on Earth, she might end up being a nuisance to Kodai and Yuki, so moving to the Galman-Garmillas Empire and becoming Mrs. Dessler could be a good option. That would also create a blood relation between Kodai and Dessler, potentially deepening the friendship between Earth and the Galman-Garmillas Empire.
Either way, Kodai didn’t have any other notable scenes in 3199 besides his farewell to Yuki, so I hope they give him some more protagonist-worthy moments in Chapter 4 and beyond. Let’s look forward to future developments!

About Yuki Mori
See the original post here
This time, I’m going to write about Yuki Mori.
First of all, the voice actress for Yuki, Houko Kuwashima, is a perfect fit. Voice actors in remakes don’t often match the original, but the Yamato remake is very well done overall, and I think Houko Kuwashima is especially well-suited for the role. I also think that Koichi Yamadera, who voices Dessler, and Houchu Otsuka, who voices Sanada, are particularly well-suited for their roles.
However, the scene in the trailer where Yuki Mori supposedly gets married to Alphon in a wedding ceremony feels uncomfortable to watch. I understand that it was somehow forced, but since she didn’t marry Kodai, seeing her wear a wedding dress and hold hands with Alphon was something I didn’t want to see. To be honest, there weren’t any real standout moments in the Yuki scenes in Chapter 3.
Chapter 4 will focus on the battle between the Galman-Garmillas Empire and the Bolar Federation. Personally, I predict that the battle will be resolved in Chapter 5, followed by Chapter 6 where Yamato attacks an intermediate supply base and fights the Goruba fleet, leading to the final battle against Dezarium’s homeworld in Chapter 7.
Since Yuki will probably be fighting alongside the partisans from Chapter 6 onward, I don’t think she’ll have much of a role in Chapters 4 and 5. Chapters 4 and 5 will likely see Sasha, who hasn’t had much screen time up to this point, take on the role of the heroine.
Personally, I prefer the remake version of Yuki, who is more independent and cool, rather than the more reserved and quiet Yuki from the original. The remake version seems stronger and cooler. So, I think the scene where she fights with the partisans will look better in the remake version.
In the original, Alphon couldn’t shoot Yuki, but I hope he doesn’t hesitate in the remake version. That would be more in line with the remake version of Yuki, and it would also make Alphon’s death feel more meaningful, as he would be killed by the woman he loves.
In any case, I’m looking forward to seeing lots of cool Yuki in Chapter 4 and beyond. There are still nearly four months until Chapter 4 is released, but I can’t wait!

Thoughts on Sasha
See the original post here
Since Sasha hasn’t had much screen time so far, I’ll write down my predictions.
In the original series, the Iscandar people aged to 17 in just one year, which was a rather rough concept. When you think about it, animals other than humans reach adulthood in a short amount of time. However, humans grow more slowly compared to other animals.
Additionally, the development of human intelligence takes about the same amount of time as physical growth. Even if Sasha were to physically reach 17 years old in one year, as in the original series, it is questionable whether her intelligence would also reach that level. In 3199, I don’t think they would use such a rough concept where characters grow to 17 years old in one year.
My prediction is that the Iscandarians might transfer their consciousness into new bodies, similar to Maetel from Galaxy Express 999. It is likely that Sasha’s infant body retains memories from a previous life (?). Sasha’s consciousness was transferred from the body of the kidnapped infant to an adult body that had been preserved somewhere, and that adult body was protected by Berger and brought to the Galman-Garmillas Empire.
Dezarium can also transfer consciousness to other bodies like Alphon, but in Dezarium’s case, it’s a technology that transfers consciousness from a mechanical body to another mechanical body, and they may not have the technology to transfer consciousness to a biological body like the Iscandarians. And isn’t this technology exactly what Dezarium desires?
The Dezarium people, having lost their organic bodies, obtained mechanical bodies, but for some reason, they must have decided that organic bodies were better. Therefore, they attempted to initialize the brains of Earthlings and implant Dezarium memories into those bodies, but they lack the technology to do so. That’s why they captured Sasha, to obtain that technology, isn’t it?
Dezarium’s primary goal is to acquire the Cosmo Reverse technology from Iscandar and restore the Dezarium homeworld. If that fails, their Plan B is to implant Dezarium memories into human bodies and use them as their own flesh and blood. However, if that happens, the offspring would be humans with Earth DNA.
Well, that’s my guess, but Chapter 4 will probably reveal more about Sasha’s secrets and Dezarium’s true objectives. I’m really looking forward to it!!
