Love humanity —
Continuing to love the Earth, it’s time for Space Battleship Yamato to reach its spectacular end…

1: You are Kodai and Yuki, who will become independent as warriors of love

Space Battleship Yamato was planned in 1973. Counting from then, 1983 marks exactly ten years. During that time, Space Battleship Yamato has produced three TV series, three TV specials, and three theatrical films. All of this is the result of the sympathy and support of the fans, and I am very happy to have been able to be involved in such a work as Yamato as a producer.

However, there were some works in which my intentions were not fully realized, and there are many things I regret. The producer bears all responsibility for the work, and the producer’s personality influences the work, so I have no intention of making excuses for things that did not go well, but I have always wanted to depict some kind of conclusion. That is to release a work that is true to my idea of Yamato. I think doing so is important, both as a producer and as a person.

This desire grew to a point where Space Battleship Yamato The Final Chapter was planned to commemorate the tenth anniversary.

Through Yamato, I have stated the importance of believing in humanity and the future in the midst of battle, and that if you do that a path will surely open up. Another important thing is to love people. Love is easy to say, but difficult to put into practice. Also, love is not always sweet. Love can bring destruction and ruin, which is cruel and frightening. Only by fighting and overcoming such difficulties can we find happiness. We can also call these trials.

Yes, trials are the most important thing for humans, and it could be said that they are God’s grace and love for us.

As I conclude the ten-year story of Space Battleship Yamato, I would like everyone to understand the true nature of love, and through Yamato, Susumu Kodai, Yuki Mori, and others, I would like to convey that human growth comes from realizing this and becoming independent. Susumu Kodai and Yuki Mori, who become independent warriors of love, are both precious people. By giving birth to such figures, Yamato will have completed its true mission.

Thank you very much for loving Yamato for the past ten long years. After watching this film, let’s get together again and talk about the next step in our lives before we set off.

2: More moving and dramatic than any other Yamato!

Yamato, which has become an immortal milestone in the history of anime and created passionate memories of youth in people’s hearts, will finally come to an end as it marks its tenth anniversary.

In the summer of 1977, the first theatrical film, a complete edit of the Yamato TV series, was released and sparked the subsequent anime boom. The following year, Farewell to Yamato, considered a masterpiece in anime history, became an unprecedented hit, turning into a social phenomenon that year and spreading across Japan. Furthermore, in the summer of 1980, Be Forever Yamato was released, and the entire Yamato theatrical trilogy set an astonishing record of ten million audience members.

The last film, Space Battleship Yamato The Final Chapter, which is supported by fans across the country, will bring to a close everything related to the Yamato series so far, marking a true finale. The greatest highlight of the film is the unity of love between the protagonists Susumu Kodai and Yuki Mori, who have grown up together with Yamato, and the heroic final moments of the ship, which witnesses this.

The film also features the return of the ship’s first captain, Juzo Okita, the arrival of the beloved nemesis Dessler, and the appearance of the never-before-seen giant battleship Uruk. There is the clever incorporation of space mythology into the water planet Aquarius and the battle with the enemy nation of Planet Dengil, making it a powerful work on a grand scale, befitting of the finale.

Far more moving and dramatic than any of the previous Yamato films, this final chapter will once again leave its mark as an eternal masterpiece to live on forever in the hearts of fans.

3: An imminent double crisis! Yamato launches with the prayers of the entire Earth!

According to space mythology, four billion years ago the water planet Aquarius brought a great deal of rain to the Earth, which was then a burning rock, bringing water and the seeds of life. The planet was heading toward Earth in an elliptical orbit. Now, Earth once again faces a crisis similar to Noah’s flood of 3,000 years ago. The people of Earth are not yet aware of this fact.

The year is 2203…

Meanwhile, far away in the galaxy, a galactic crossover suddenly appears from a dimensional fault, causing numerous interstellar collisions near the core star systems. The interstellar nation of the Bolar Federation and Dessler’s Galman-Gamilas Empire, both located in the area, are laid waste. The Earth Defense Force senses this anomaly and dispatches the Space Battleship Yamato, captained by Susumu Kodai.

Yamato free-warps to avoid damage from a stellar explosion, and appears near the planet Dengil, which is flooding due to the influence of Aquarius. Yamato descends to carry out a rescue operation, saving a young boy and setting off for Earth. As if waiting for Yamato‘s departure, Planet Dengil explodes and is reduced to rubble in space. The crew then learns that Aquarius is heading for Earth.

On its way home, Yamato is confronted by a large mobile fleet of the Dengil Empire, which fled the exploding planet. This fleet, possessing terrifying scientific power, attacks with hyper thermonuclear missiles, which puncture Yamato‘s armor plating, rendering it unable to communicate.

Grand Commander Lugal of the Dengil Empire decides to emigrate to Earth after his planet was flooded. To achieve this, he plans to warp Aquarius using super thermonuclear energy, drown Earth, and then occupy it. As a result, Aquarius makes multiple warps and will approach Earth in just 16 days. When people on Earth learn of this, chaos breaks out.

Despite suffering extensive damage, Yamato manages to warp and finally returns to Earth. However, many of the crew have been killed, and Kodai is suffering from the effects of the radiation, now in a state of near-death.

“Kodai-kun, please don’t die!” With Yuki praying fervently, Kodai’s surgery is performed. He is brought back to life from the brink of death.

Meanwhile, Dengil’s solar system domination fleet, led by Lugal II, destroys planetary bases one after another. They also destroy the Earth fleet, including the evacuation fleet and its escorts, attack Pluto and Mars, and gradually extend their reach toward Earth. At the same time, Aquarius is coming to flood Earth in just nine days.

The only ship that can now face the enemy is Yamato, which has undergone major repairs. However, after losing many crew members in the previous battle, Kodai takes responsibility and resigns as the captain. The night before launch, he visits the first bridge.

“I have said goodbye to you…but I was only myself when I was with you. I want to start over with you again.”

At that moment, the familiar voice of Captain Okita rings out: “That’s right! Yamato is your only way to survive!”

Okita had fallen ill in the past, but escaped brain death and now returns to help Yamato launch. With the resurrected Captain Okita in command and prayers from all over the Earth, Yamato departs. Nine ships, including destroyers and cruisers, escort Yamato. Kodai also participates as the combat team leader. Will Yamato be able to thwart the ambitions of Planet Dengil and save Earth from the approach of Aquarius?

A group of top-notch staff members are united in their determination to create the greatest masterpiece in anime history!
