The jacket art has been revealed for Yamato Sound Almanac 50th Premium Symphonic Suite Yamato 2024 Mix. It is a new mix of the Symphonic Suite album composed by the late Hiroshi Miyagawa. The jacket reconstructs the album’s materials, just like the sound source. Digital data scanned from the original painting has been retouched to revive the vivid colors of the time, similar to the restoration work of paintings, and the space background has been processed to give a sense of depth. The title logo is placed to follow the design of the time.
Symphonic Suite Yamato is an album arranged for a full orchestra by composer Hiroshi Miyagawa based on the soundtrack of the TV anime Space Battleship Yamato broadcast in 1974. The record, released on December 25, 1977, was a huge hit and is also called “the monument of anime soundtracks.”
2024 Mix is a 16-channel original multi-tape sound source mixed with the latest technology to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Yamato. The release lineup includes CD, vinyl, regular distribution, high-resolution distribution, and spatial audio. Toshiyasu Shiozawa was in charge of the mix, Shigeru Takezawa was the LP cutting engineer, and Yumiko Yamashita was in charge of CD mastering. It will be released on December 25th.
