The entire universe is on the verge of an unprecedented crisis due to the appearance of a giant white comet. The story is about a group of young space soldiers, including Susumu Kodai, who fight a courageous battle in defiance of the Earth Federation.

After defeating the powerful Gamilas Empire in the previous film, Kodai, who has learned the importance of love rather than fighting, has grown up a great deal. He confronts a new enemy, the White Comet Army, which is disturbing the peace of the universe.

He is in love with his girlfriend Yuki Mori, and his new friends are active in his life. There is the sorrow of Teresa, a beautiful girl imprisoned on the planet Telezart. Emperor Zordar, Chief of Staff Sabera, General Zabaibal, and Dessler are just a few of the intriguing characters that appear one after another!

From the battle to save Earth to the battle to protect the peace of the whole universe, the sense of drama develops in a more dynamic way. The illusion of evil. Yamato‘s fate far exceeds imagination. This work will surely lead you to a world of endless dreams and adventures.

• Four months to create the script and storyboard

The staff worked on the theme and story of Yamato Part 2 in meetings day and night. Surprisingly, they were able to take in Star Wars and Close Encounters, both of which are popular American science fiction movies, traveling to Hawaii to see them for reference.

Once the script and plan were created, Director Masuda created the structure, which was then reviewed by Leiji Matsumoto. The script, which is the heart and foundation, and the storyboard, which is the basis of the work, took four long months to complete,

• A pipe organ for the evil theme

The pipe organ is an instrument used in the majestic religious music of Bach and other composers. It doesn’t seem like a suitable instrument for an evil theme, but after much painstaking work, Hiroshi Miyagawa, the composer of Yamato, created a piece with powerful dynamism.

Religious music that stirs the human soul plays an evil melody. The “unfathomable evil” of Gatlantis, the giant empire led by Zordar, is expressed more effectively in this piece. This was a completely unique and adventurous attempt for film music.

• Three new compositions by popular lyricist Yu Aku

From Yamato With Love is the main theme, Teresa Forever elegantly sings about the goddess of love and prayer, and The Rival is a song about Dessler, the cosmic exile who fights like a warrior.

• A first in anime history! Yukiko Hanai for fashion design

Yukiko Hanai designed the costumes worn by Yuki Mori. It is unprecedented for an anime film to use such a designer.
