Dessler, the avenging demon

Yamato is in a great struggle against a powerful enemy!

The decisive battle against President Dessler, Yamato‘s sworn enemy, has begun. How will Yamato fare against Dessler, who will put all his strength on the line with the pride of Gamilas at stake?

After breaking through the Goland fleet’s attack, Yamato heads for Telezart, relying on Teresa’s communications. At the rear of the fleet, Dessler of the Gamilas Empire is waiting for them with a vengeance. Yamato‘s time radar reacts, and the video panel clearly shows Gamilas aircraft.

Dessler is alive, although he was defeated in battle with Yamato and his molecules were scattered in space. But thanks to the superior technology of Emperor Zordar’s Comet Empire, he was resurrected in a regeneration chamber. His tenacity in rebuilding Gamilas is highly valued by Zordar.

Dessler is determined to take revenge on Yamato and to rebuild Gamilas. First of all, he unleashes a beautiful but terrifyingly powerful weapon called the “space firefly” against Yamato. They fill the darkness of space with gorgeous color, but they are in fact an iron-eating bacteria.

The crew of Yamato, weary from their long battle, seeks solace in the loneliness of space travel. Unaware of what they are doing, they bring the “space fireflies” aboard to enjoy their beauty. Kodai and Sanada are alarmed and order them thrown away, but it is already too late. The iron-eating bacteria has undermined the Yamato‘s gravity system, and navigation becomes unstable.

Attack planes from a Gamilas carrier strike Yamato one after another. Neither the Cosmo Tigers nor the main guns are in a condition to be used. The carrier tries to finish them off with a missile! But for some reason, the carrier suddenly turns around and leaves, damaged by the same “space fireflies” it unleashed.

The crisis seems to be over. However, Yamato‘s wounds are quite deep. Even Analyzer is out of tune. A hollow planetoid appears before Yamato, one kilometer in diameter and 10 kilometers long. Kodai, who judges this cavity to be an ideal dock for restoration, orders Yamato to fly in and stop; exactly what Dessler wanted.

A powerful magnetic enclosure was installed on this planetoid. Yamato cannot move. The plan is to destroy Yamato along with the entire hollow planetoid. Dessler’s ship heads for the flank, prepared to fire. We’re doomed! How to escape?

But Shinmai has an idea to save Yamato, to use the recoil from firing the Wave-Motion Gun to escape. The Dessler cannon is on the verge of firing, but Yamato succeeds in escaping from this great crisis.

Yamato finally approaches the planet Telezart. Will Kodai and his team be able to meet the mysterious Teresa, the sender of the message?

Dessler is arrested!

Dessler’s chance to take revenge against Yamato at the hollow planetoid was lost because of trouble with the Comet Empire. Just before he can fire the Dessler cannon, he receives an order to “abort the operation and return home.” Angered, Dessler immediately heads for the Comet Empire.

This order was not issued by Zordar, but by Sabera, who had not been pleased with Dessler in the past. When he arrives, she has him arrested by the guards and imprisoned in the Comet. For the proud Dessler, there was no greater humiliation…

Where is peace in the universe?

A meeting with Teresa. And Farewell

Yamato turns from Telezart to Earth

We finally meet Teresa. What is the meaning of her message? Teresa herself reveals the mystery of the Comet Empire!

Yamato‘s crew lands on the planet Telezart. The Zabaibal tank corps of the Comet Empire is deployed here as well. Saito and his Space Cavalry crew engage in a fierce battle and are victorious.

Kodai, Sanada, Analyzer, and Saito follow a transmission from Teresa, descending deep into limestone caverns. Teresa is there! She waits for Kodai and the others in a small palace in a subterranean lake! After a short delay, Shima rushes to join them. They finally meet. But this is not the end of Yamato‘s voyage. What is to come is more important. The Comet Empire approaches Earth every minute.

ARTICLE 3 (continued)

Teresa is sincerely grateful to Yamato for making the long and arduous journey in response to her call. She happily accepts the gift of flowers brought by Kodai and others. However, this is not a time to relax.

She says the White Comet aims to conquer the universe, driven by a kind of hunting tribe that invades planet after planet. The interior of the comet is a fortified city. After it passes Telezart, its next target is Earth. She doesn’t say what to do about it. After providing the information, she tells Kodai and the others to return home. Only Daisuke Shima, who remains there alone, is able to learn her true identity.

The once prosperous underground city of Telezart fought a war over leadership. Teresa lamented the tragic state of affairs and prayed for them. But in her prayers, she discovered her own terrible power. Her prayer created a devastating energy that caused earthquakes, destroying all the cities. Left alone on this desolate world, she is constantly reminded of the emptiness of battle and destruction. She does not want to fight any more.

She can avoid the White Comet by using her energy, but she does not want to hurt her opponent. However, the danger to the universe is definitely increasing. This was her message to Yamato. Shima loves Teresa for doing so. He insists that they should fight together. If that is not possible, he asks her to at least go with him on Yamato and think about what to do. He realizes that he is in love with her, and doesn’t want to leave her here.

Yamato decides to return to Earth to intercept the White Comet. They have to hurry. In the tense situation, Teresa also wants to go with Yamato for a while, since she also loves Shima. However, they still have to say goodbye…

TOPICS: Producer Nishizaki was in Farewell to Yamato!

Here’s a little fun news. Did you know that Producer Nishizaki appeared in Farewell to Yamato? When the White Comet approaches Earth, one of the citizens says, “No, there is still Yamato!” It seems that he is that person. Come to think of it, they do look alike. Take a close look at the image. This was learned from the fan club magazine.

Mr. Nishizaki is very clear that the end of the Yamato TV series will not disappoint the fans. But for now, it’s just a hint. Let’s look forward to it.

Great response: a flood of letters from passionate fans

What will happen to Shima and Teresa’s love?

In Episodes 15 and 16, we see Shima and Teresa’s first encounter, the blossoming of their love, and their painful parting. Their love gave Yamato fans something new to talk about. No, for Shima fans, it is more than a topic of conversation, it seems they’ve made it their own problem.

We asked the Yamato fan club about it, and they said that up until the airing of Episode 16, they had been receiving phone calls and letters from fans saying, “I read in Roadshow that (my) Shima-kun and Teresa are going to fall in love. Is it true? Please don’t do that!” Some of them were even crying on the phone.

However, the reaction changed right after the broadcast of Episode 16.

“I feel sorry for Shima and Teresa. If they were going to have such a painful goodbye, they shouldn’t have been allowed to meet in the first place.” Or, “I wish they could have stayed together.” Or, “Kodai-kun has Yuki, but I’m glad Shima-kun has a girlfriend, too.”

Of course, most of them are women. Teresa seems to have disappeared with Telezart in Episode 17, but we wonder if that is really true. If so, it is tragic. We hope she’s still alive, don’t you?

We have now reached the fourth issue of Yamato Newspaper. We would like to make it even more enjoyable, so we’re looking forward to your feedback about the newspaper, about Shima and Teresa, about Kodai and Yuki, or anything about Yamato.
