Hideo Ogata is one of those people who played an instrumental role in building the foundation of anime culture. In 2004, he did the world a huge favor by publishing a book of his memoirs. Yamato figured heavily in two chapters of that book, so we’re presenting the first one here.

Its Wave Engine shut down, Yamato sinks into the gravity sphere. Sanada and others transfer to the experimental Wave-Motion ship Ginga. Even the Cosmo Reverse System, which has lost its ability to regenerate planets, is thrown into the line of fire. As they reinforce the Time Fault fleet, they learn that the human race is trapped.
